Why is video required to activate the funds?

If you believe you are experiencing an emergency, you must send a video clip of your pet in order for the issue to be considered for the Emergency Fund.

This requirement is in place for the following reasons:

  1. In the event of a life-threatening emergency, it is in your pet's best interest to seek professional medical advice as quickly as possible.
  2. Our staff of Emergency Fund veterinarians is available 24 hours a day to give first-aid vet guidance and emergency vet triage, and they respond within 2 minutes.
  3. To make sure the Emergency Fund is used for its intended purpose.
  4. To preserve the quality of our service. 

Ultimately, our veterinarians will decide if your pet need emergency care and is eligible for the Emergency Fund. Each scenario and pet is different, and evaluating the level of emergency is greatly influenced by breed, age, weight, and other factors. If your pet has been admitted before contacting one of our veterinarians for money, you will not be eligible for the Emergency Fund.

In order to record a video that can be properly assessed, you must:

  • Record at least 90 seconds of clear video.
  • Show your pet’s whole body for at least 30 seconds.
  • Show a close up of the face and any other areas of concern.
  • Our vets need to assess breathing rate (show thorax movements for at least 15 seconds), state of consciousness, ability to move (call your pet by name), and response to stimuli (noises, moving objects in visual field, touch your pet).
  • Keep the frame as steady as possible - record and send more than one video if needed.
