Why pet parents trust Emergency Fund

“Dr Paulina is the best! In comparison to one of the vets I had before she was super thorough and took time to address all of my concerns. The previous vet was very short and seemed rushed. Thank you Dr Paulina!!”

Suzy, Houston

“...I texted vet and after a video examination she told me it was an emergency case and I need to go to a vet clinic. Hopefully, he’s okay now, it appears to be a cat litter...”

Michael , Percian cat, Pittsburgh

“The vet was so patient and quick giving lots of great information and with the videos I was sending him, it made me feel so at ease knowing he can see what i see because sometimes explaining is hard for me since english is not my first language. The doctor was absolutely amazing, he explained everything in detail. I am so happy i was able to get the membership and i will keep it. This are top quality vets here. Thank you so much...”

German shepherd, Norfolk

“...Can’t imagine what I would do, if I had to pay the bill by myself, so Emergency fund appeared to be a smart financial choice. My poor girl will recover smoothly...”

Luna, Beagle, Philadelphia

“Dr Kaylee was a great help. She made me feel a lot better about my concern. I truly enjoy and appreciate being able to reach out to a vet at any moment without a $500 bill just for an assessment. Thank you!”

Toy Poodle, Cleveland

Questions? Answers

Feel free to reach out with any questions at support@petcube.com

  • Does Emergency Fund pay my vet directly?

Yes. Emergency Fund works with any licensed vet clinic in the U.S. We pay the vet directly after emergency treatment so you don’t have to wait for reimbursement. A short vet assessment is required to confirm eligibility.

If your membership hasn’t been fully paid for 12 months since joining, the remaining membership fees will be deducted from the payment amount sent to your clinic.

Assistance is reviewed on a case-by-case basis and is not guaranteed.

  • How does Emergency Fund work in the U.S.?

Emergency Fund by Petcube isn’t pet insurance — it’s a membership that helps you manage life-threatening vet emergencies.

    Here’s how it works:
    • You can chat with a licensed vet online anytime after joining.
    • After 14 days from your subscription start date, you become eligible for up to $3,000 per year in emergency financial assistance for any of your pets (up to six per household, cats and dogs only).
    • Assistance applies to one emergency per year and can’t be split between incidents or pets.
    • Our vets must confirm the emergency before payment is approved.
    • We pay the clinic directly, so you don’t have to wait for reimbursement.
If your annual membership isn’t fully paid at the time of the emergency, the remaining balance will be deducted from the assistance amount.

Assistance is reviewed on a case-by-case basis and is not guaranteed.

  • Do you help pets with pre-existing conditions?

Yes. Pets with pre-existing conditions are eligible for emergency assistance. We don’t exclude pets based on age, breed, or medical history.
To activate the Fund, the situation must be life-threatening and confirmed by our veterinary team.

Assistance is reviewed on a case-by-case basis and is not guaranteed.

  • Is Petcube Emergency Fund pet insurance?

No. The Petcube Emergency Fund is not vet insurance. It’s a membership that gives you 24/7 access to online vets and the ability to request up to $3,000 in emergency financial assistance for life-threatening situations. There are no deductibles, no premiums, and no claims process.
Insurance reimburses you later — we step in fast during real emergencies.

  • Is Emergency Fund worth the cost?

If you don’t have a few thousand dollars saved for surprise vet bills, the Emergency Fund can make emergencies a lot less stressful. Here’s an example:

A member joins the Fund for $29.99 a month. One month later, their dog eats chocolate and needs emergency care. The vet bill comes to $2,041. Our vets confirm it’s a life-threatening situation and activate the Fund.

Because the membership wasn’t fully paid yet, the unpaid portion of the yearly membership ($29.99 × 11 = $329.89) is deducted before we send payment to the vet. So $1,711.11 is paid directly to the clinic.

The pet gets immediate treatment — and the member doesn’t have to delay care because of cost. That’s the whole point of the Emergency Fund: real help in real emergencies.

This is an example to illustrate how it works. Assistance amounts vary by case and are not guaranteed.

  • How do I know if my vet will accept Emergency Fund?

Emergency Fund works with any licensed vet clinic in the U.S. We send payment directly to your vet after our team confirms the emergency and receives the invoice. If your clinic has questions, we’re happy to coordinate payment with them directly.

  • Can I use the Fund for more than one emergency per year?

The Emergency Fund can be used once per year for one life-threatening emergency per membership. You can request up to $3,000 in assistance, which is paid directly to your vet. If your yearly membership hasn’t been fully paid yet, the remaining balance is deducted from the assistance amount before payment. You will still have 24/7 online vet guidance available all year long, even after using your one emergency request.

  • How long does the Fund stay available after activation?

Once our vet team approves your emergency, the Fund stays active for 4 hours so your pet can begin treatment right away. If treatment doesn’t start within that time, the Fund closes and can’t be used for that incident. Please head to the vet as soon as possible once it’s activated.

  • Can I use the Fund without consulting Petcube’s vets first?

No. To activate the Emergency Fund, you must first chat with our vet team and show your pet on video so we can confirm it’s a life-threatening emergency. This step is required before going to the clinic so we can verify eligibility and prevent misuse.
If you go to the vet before contacting us, the Fund can’t be activated for that incident. In an emergency, just message us right away, we respond 24/7.

  • Can I use the Fund right after joining?

No — the Emergency Fund becomes available 14 days after your subscription starts. The waiting period applies to everyone and has no exceptions. You can still use 24/7 online vet guidance immediately from day one.
